The Northern Inland Sustainable Business Network (NISBN) is an exciting regional initiative aimed at providing hands-on, practical and local assistance to business as they embark on the sustainability challenge.

Members of the Northern Inland Sustainable Business Network (NISBN) are now being invited. Membership to NISBN is FREE for 2015/16.



The aim of NISBN is to provide local support to improve business sustainability by:

  • accessing and deliverying programs locally
  • information sharing
  • providing local leadership
  • promoting best practice sustainable business techniques

*NISBN covers the 13 Local Government areas of Armidale Dumaresq, Glen Innes Severn, Gunnedah, Guyra, Gwydir, Inverell, Liverpool Plains, Moree Plains, Narrabri, Tamworth Regional, Tenterfield, Uralla and Walcha Councils.



NISBN delivers results



Our members have achieved some remarkable results during their sustainability journey. Examples include:


  • One local council turned a 45% increase in electricity charges in the five years to 2010 into a 20% decrease!


  • A local transport company implement a whole of business recycling project, change truck purchasing procedures – they recently purchased a Hino hybrid delivery truck, and have also completed lighting upgrade at all of their depots.


  • At a traditional heavy industry participant has integrated the principles of lean manufacturing making their business more competitive.
